Hydrophobic surface retest.

I should video the same on my SL having not waxed it since last summer.

I dont think there's a huge difference in all honesty and given the amount of layers of product on R2D2's car I suspect water ran off as fast before the application of C2.

Should have had before and after videos really.

Spike-chill, its just a bit of fun not a scientific challenge!:)

I am as chilled as a chilled thing. :-)

It just struck me that after 30 odd coats of wax I wondered how much this single wipe of C2 was making to the water run off in your videos.

It must have also been pretty impressive before no?

Some photos as promised after a quick clean last night.
The light wasn't good, and the car is silver - so doesn't show the shine as well as a dark car, but it is clearly not in the same league as yours R2, however, while not hydrophobic, the Meguiars gold glass wax water repellent properties were pretty impressive.

Damn, forgot to shine the tyres :)

Rust Oleum aren't exactly a back street operation with a turnover of nearly half a billion and nearly 100 years in the business they must know what they are doing :dk: LINKY

That said I would not have any C8,C6 or C4 based products anywhere near my house or car, the long term health effects are now known and it's not pretty reading, see Google for further details :D

Well I think that it is an amazing shine, especially given that silver cars are notoriouly difficult to get reflections in. Well done. Good Job.:bannana:

PS. like the red interior.

Thank you very much for that - that is seriously impressive stuff.

As previously, the finish is simply amazing. I have some C5 which I will be putting on my wheels in August/September ready for the winter, and I'm hoping for something approaching that.

For the bodywork, I have used a couple of coats of AG UDS just because I had some, and have now 'finished it off' with SRP, EGP, and topped off with Meguiars gold class wax.
With the sponge applicator this is easy to do alternate top half/bottom half waxes after washes.

Doesn't come up anything like yours though :)

Ted
how do you find the longetivity of the megs wax as i have a bottle of the ultimate stuff in the garage unopened as i had been told that it didnt last very long, I have used colinite on the wife's car (Seat Altea) and that seems to be doing ok (not much seems to stick to it - very little fly splat compared to what it used to be like)

Well I gave in and did another coat of C2 (finishing the bottle off). Must admit I held my breath today.

Not too sure tbh, but I used it on the Picanto around April, and it was still doing well when I washed it last week.
On the clk, it will probably get waxed at least once a month so longevity shouldn't be an issue.
I tend to wax a part of the car after every wash so it only takes a few minutes to do.

What I find incredible in this thread is that some people think that additional coats of a wax or sealant actually adds another layer.
The petroleum distillates used as the solvent strip the previous finish off and a new one is laid down.

I also think it strange that people think that the protection of any wax would be degraded after only one or two weeks.

Your right Dieselman especially if their abrasive products.

For me it is nothing to do with protection or longevity.....its only about the shine :)

In that case you would be better to not use wax or sealant and use a straight polish for a few weeks, then a protection coat.

Yes you would.

Polish will add shine, wax adds protection.

You can see from your photographs that the paint still exhibits orange peel, which detracts from the shine.
