So I went to Brands Hatch yesterday afternoon and had a great time:bannana:

Anyway an extra nice surprise was to see two BTCC heroes present – Colin Turkington 2008 BTCC Independent Drivers' Champion and Fabrizio Giovanardi – the current champion.

I didn’t manage to go on track with them though:dk:

By the way Peter, are those Mandrus wheels you have on your car now? Very nice! :)

Fantastic. Were they driving round in their Touring Cars? If so, quite quickly, I assume!

lol at the first picture - so quick you couldn't get caught on camera!

Car looks very flat through the corner as well. Is that standard? - sorry if you've explained a big list of mods at length already :)

Do you happen to know how quickly you were lapping Brands?

Turkinton was, I think, taking a guest around in his at lunchtime and the BBC were with both of them doing some filming. Fabrio was going around in a VXR8 very very fast.

I've only modified the car a little - Quaffe LSD and thicker anti roll bars to dial out understeer and a delimit. The car is great great fun - I had it over six years and still enjoy it a lot. :bannana:
I've no idea on my lap times - I was going as fast as I dare!

That last shot is definately photoshopped. ;)

All my photos are photoshopped. I import the photos into Photoshop Elements 6 to organise them and use the editor to crop and adjust the exposure. The photo of Fab was far too dark because of the background light and so I lightened it. :)

Looks good.

I've had a few laps with a few Vauxhall drivers on the half-day VXR track days they do each year, and the amount of extra performance they squeeze out of a road car is incredible.

yes, done that the last 2 years at Brands - good value as well. Could spend all day going round with the pro drivers - almost the best fun you can have with clothes on....... severely grin and giggle inducing. Paul Swift wasn't so shabby either; the video I took of the 2 wheel episode has a soundtrack of inane giggles.. fantastic fun!

I remember driving a single seater at Brands a few years back, and thinking i was brilliant, then finding out my lap times (which were suprisingly consistant) and comparing them to proper drivers times in the same car.

Hence why you don't see me in F1.

Still, Lewis would be rubbish in my job so thats fair I think.

Glad you had a good time. Going as fast as you feel happy is about the best feeling a driver can get really. The relentless pursuit of fun removal that the UK Government policy is aimed at, should really mean these tracks offer more road car days. Insurnace policies should cover certain days at certain tracks with a set of rules that require complying with and we could all get along with that.

I did a palmersport day, and despite my above average mass I came in the top ten times for the single seaters (out of about 100 on the day). Only 23s behind the lap time set by a pro...

well i must admit to being in the top 10 ten, but as there were only 9 people, that wasn't exactly difficult. my calculator doesn't allow me to calculate how far away from a proper driver my best time was.

I did not feel guilty taking a landing fee off Jonathan Palmer at an airport he came to a year back, as though he had anything to do with my brilliant performance.
