In comfort mode, the car isn't in first gear. It pulls away in 2nd gear.
Try it in Sport and you'll see it revert to 1st gear starts and drops into 1st at standstill.

I don't think there is anything wrong at all.

Comfort mode saved me from being stranded in loose gravel once especially mine being diesel, i needed that low end torque

I have just taken it out for a drive in sport, sport + then comfort and yes all seems fine, just strange how I’ve never noticed it before, I’ve only had the car for 5 weeks

If you accelerate really hard in Comfort mode it will drop to first gear, at least it did in my S203
