We did it in 1998 when we went to pick up a Merc E240 Avantegarde. Its a great trip - dealer ran us to Heathrow, flew business class to Stuttgard - picked up in a taxi to hotel - in morning a taxi took us to factory.
We took 3 days to return and stayed at Trier - a beautiful town.
Would love to do it again - what car are you picking up?
One day I shall just go over there and knock on the door, and say "please can I come in"
Me too! The Singlefingen factory (Small town) employs 49000 on one site and visiting it was huge fun.
2nd November it will be ready, and a trip to the factory to collect.
And the trip back will run it in nicely
I'm collecting a W204 from the Singlefingen factory later this year, can't wait.
What airport are you flying to Germany from as I notice you live in Cumbria? I've not had any travel arrangements made yet and as I live in York I'd prefer to fly from Manchester not from Heathrow etc. I would also rather do the North Sea Ferry into Hull rather than the Eurostar train, is there a choice?
I'm flying from Manchester, and planning to spend a couple of days returning via Eurotunnel, as I need to call at London and the midlands on the way back. Should be enough mileage to run it in properly....
And yes, you can choose an alternative route via ferry, the letter says indicate that on the booking form, so Hull would appear to be on.
The pack I've had is an information pack, with an estimated ready date.
I don't know how exact the 'ready date' is, I'll get the real date soon, together with the booking form.
It does sound good, I have to say.
