Car
C250CDI (C320CDI & SLK350, Sold) & the Trusty Citigo
2nd November it will be ready, and a trip to the factory to collect.

And the trip back will run it in nicely:)

:D

We did it in 1998 when we went to pick up a Merc E240 Avantegarde. Its a great trip - dealer ran us to Heathrow, flew business class to Stuttgard - picked up in a taxi to hotel - in morning a taxi took us to factory.

We took 3 days to return and stayed at Trier - a beautiful town.

Would love to do it again - what car are you picking up?

SLk 350, from Bremen. Must admit it has rather more appeal than trundling down to the dealer to collect it:) The trip round the factory should be good.

One day I shall just go over there and knock on the door, and say "please can I come in"

Me too! The Singlefingen factory (Small town) employs 49000 on one site and visiting it was huge fun.

49000?
Surely you mean 4900?
I just cant imagine how big the site must be to employ 49000.
My mind is boggling.......

...it has its own shops, golf course, petrol station and fire station!

I'm collecting a W204 from the Singlefingen factory later this year, can't wait.

What airport are you flying to Germany from as I notice you live in Cumbria? I've not had any travel arrangements made yet and as I live in York I'd prefer to fly from Manchester not from Heathrow etc. I would also rather do the North Sea Ferry into Hull rather than the Eurostar train, is there a choice?

I'm flying from Manchester, and planning to spend a couple of days returning via Eurotunnel, as I need to call at London and the midlands on the way back. Should be enough mileage to run it in properly....

And yes, you can choose an alternative route via ferry, the letter says indicate that on the booking form, so Hull would appear to be on.

The pack I've had is an information pack, with an estimated ready date.

I don't know how exact the 'ready date' is, I'll get the real date soon, together with the booking form.

It does sound good, I have to say.

Yes i have received my "Estimated Ready Date" for the SClass 3rd December. I pick mine up from Stuttgart.

My letter says November 3rd, but it will be confirmed, and the booking form will arrive with it... Needs to be soon, the confirmed date, I'm getting booked up at work, and christmas is coming!

Well, The date is now confirmed (by email, complete with booking form), and its ready NOW( well, 8 days to arrange the collection date, it takes MB), so collection as soon as I can arrange it, probably a week on Tuesday... Gives me time to arrange work, insurance and money.

I feel a :bannana: coming on....

Nice surprise, have two :bannana: :bannana: .Congratulations eight days of sleepless nights. Let us know how the collection goes and take lots of photo's at the factory.

Now booked for a week tomorrow...assuming the car is actually ready....

SHWMBO has decided that we'll keep the car the SLK was going to replace, for some odd reason. I suspect she has visions of a 'sunday car'. This will be changed:)

An SLK is not just for sunny days!

Enjoyed the trip when I picked up my E270 four years ago from Sindelfingen Factory was an eye opener but I didn't like the conveyor belt system of collecting number plates getting on a bus and waiting for your name to be called, found the collection rather impersonal, shop and museum was good though, go back annually to the factory PKW dept for service on my C-Class really get well looked after.

I will be very upset if there is a convey belt system in Stuttgart.

I now have my SLK:bannana:

Collected from Bremen on Tuesday, and now sttting on the drive with 1200 miles on the clock, and all properly run in.

I am one happy bunny.

Congratulations mate...nice one!

How was the trip?
