I love my W211 E-class

Got some fuel yesterday and walking back to the car I was reminded just how handsome (deliberate use of word) it is. Needs a wash, but still looks so......... right.

I seriously adore that car.

I still think that the 211 is the best looking E Class, and it's the one car which I still miss owning, even though it's been over 7 years now.

Give it a wash, you know it deserves it.

And that is exactly how I feel about my W210 Estate too.It is approaching 200,000 miles and shines like a Beacon when washed.

And the 2007 E320cdi is the best all round car I have owned, closely followed by the either the E39 530i Sport Touring or the E320 V6 petrol S211.


If I sell my ML I will buy another E Class estate, 210 or 211 I'm not sure, but they are superb and imho so much more 'Mercedes' than the 212.

So true I love my W211 too,with that V6 upfront and the sports suspension. Thought it was just me that every now then looked at it from a distance and think to myself "That's a beautiful car"

If it had the gearbox and handling of the W212 E63 6.2na then I would never have sold it.

In the 63 I think the 212 makes sense, and is the better car, it does handle far better and that is what you want from an AMG, but the normal models I think are over damped, trying too hard to be something they are not, and that was one of my issues. I bought an S212 E350 E Class to be the ultimate in luxury and comfort, in that sector, and it fell well short compared to the S211 and S210 in that regard.

My 211 is the most complete car I have owned.

Very comfortable, quick and practical.

Have covered 400 miles+ in a day easily.

Rear seats fold fully flat to give estate type space in the back (without the height), great for long loads.

On the down side?

MB diesel engines, glow plug and injector replacement.

I must say I quite like mine too

I've had it now for 5 years and it's the only car that I haven't wanted to change on the 3 year mark.

I think I will just keep it no matter what.

Best interior/dash layout Mercedes have made and the W211 AMG has the best engine too.

Such a shame the W212 was a let-down and (in my opinion) a step backwards from the W211.

They are cracking cars.

Every now and then I have thoughts of changing mine but I always end up keeping the old girl.

I still can't help but look at the car at every opportunity as I can see it out of my office window.

Driven lots of new Mercs but dont like the interiors too plasticky cheap feeling especially on some of the C class low specs.

I'm still very drawn to my S210. Yes the S211 does look better, but the nine years I've had from my car give it a special place for me, despite its age. I fear I may end up skipping the 211 generation when my old beast dies.

I've recently bought an 02 S210 D6, needing some work, mainly on the bodywork side of things.
