Afternoon Folks,
I Have a 4 month old CLK Cabriolet (reg jan 08) and I`ve had some roof issues which I have posted previously making loud noises etc and I took it to the dealer rightly so as its under warranty. Now the dealer based in Blackburn (stratstone) who dont like to contact the customer so I rang them have now ordered some parts which happens to be the full roof mechanism which they say comes in two parts, Now I dont know much about the operation of the vehicle apart from the button you press so I`m leaving it on there capable hands,
However I`m a tad nervous with whats going on and a fairly new vehicle having this type of work done on it, my question to you all are :-

1) Would you refuse the car under the sale of goods act:-
2) Question the reliability of this car, to the dealer or MB UK
3) Sell the car when you get it back!
4) will it play on your mind that this car has something wrong
5) Never buy a convertible!

I am quite a laid back person and never raise my voice at anything but I love Mercedes and Have done so for the Last 5 years during ownership,But I`m kind of concerned and probably need abit of assurance, I read alot on here with regard to trouble free motoring apart from routine servicing - Have I got a lemon - Please help and make me feel better with regards to what I should do ?. My wife doesnt understand cars at all and is happy for everything to tick over, But I`m not- I also read from some post that we have some very talented intellectuals on this forum- some real talent and I`m looking for your help on what to do next, I await your response

I think you have to give them the opportunity to fix the problem, which it sounds like they are doing. If you're not 100% happy with the car when you get it back then you should start to escalate.

It should be good as new once repaired.

Give them the opportunity to fix the car it might be perfect afterwards and better than any replacement.

After all that's what the warranty is for.

Sorry to go off topic but can you talk to us about oil testing and filtration instead, particularly bypass filters and engine oil.

Let them have a crack at it m8, Could be some little part that failed, By swapping out the whole roof they are showing their not messing round, And are doing every thing to get it done right.

Then if your not happy, Look at your options

My tip box failed in my 911, Only a small solenoid the selected 2nd was a bit slow, They had it in, and fitted a brand spanking new box, All £16000 of it, And I never had another prob.

I saw the thread title and thought "you're four days early!"

I wonder how many people will get that? ;)

sinking......
