icarsoft MB v2.0 icarsoft "vehicle database does not have license file error"

Hi all, I followed the instructions to update my icarsoft MB v2.0 device at the weekend and now when I plug it in I get the "vehicle database does not have license file" error. I've emailed icarsoft but judging by previous peoples attempts at contacting them I'm not holding my breath.

So does anyone have any advice they can share with me as to whether there's a fix please?

I have managed to get help from icarsoft in the past. Not the quickest people when it comes to replying to emails, I think the lady who got back to me was called Lilly Bong ?
 
This message usually implies that the product is not genuine. Is this the first time you've tried updating the software, or have you successfully done this before?

First time I have tried. I bought it off a member on this forum and it seemed to work when I plugged it in soon after I got it.

Is it still registered to the previous owner?

From memory you connect it to a computer via a cable and use the download software (I presume you installed this on the computer you are using?) to install updates. It usually asks for the registered email for the account or knows it via the installation program.
 
I've just been checking the files on the SD card and interestingly the RESET_BENZ folder is the only one without any subfolders when compared to the other RESET folders so not too sure whether that could be an issue.

Stick another SD card in . If you know the units serial number, it'll update . Just be sure to use the correct update tool. It's good practice to copy the card contents to the pc hard drive , before updating . If you've tried over writing a licence file to make a mb2 a mb3 or visa versa , it won't work. I've tried 😁
I've also made a back up copy on a spare SD card ,just by inserting a blank SD card in and running the update tool. Icarsoft know the serial numbers and what's genuine, if it's not , it won't update.

When a similar thing happened with mine it was reccommended that I just format the SD card , wipe it out , the upgrade loaded just fine after that.

Must say that it took a leap of faith to do that , but it worked .....for me.
 
It's worked. Whilst it doesn't read the EML code which I suspect is the other NOX sensor after I had the other one replaced a few weeks back it does cycle through all the other stuff. So thanks for the tips on using another SD card.
Now to get started on cleaning the sensor rather than have the main dealer rip me off for another 700 quid.

Try other Diesel engine variants. Bizarrely, I discovered that it will read certain types of data if you choose the 'wrong' engine type, but not if you choose the correct one...
 
My selection for a 2018/2019 glc 350 coupe. An issue that makes icarsoft poor in my opinion.

On a side note , I spoke with icarsoft and they informed me my cr pro only just covers upto 2017 thereabouts . No further updates will be available. Lifetime updates are therefore Bs . It's the lifetime of the unit , when a new one is released,your unit is obsolete.
 
Well done for speaking with them. I guess that was the UK distributor which advertises a contact number and does pick the phone up too.
I agree it would be nice if the device could be updated to include later models rather than force you to buy a new unit.
On another side note how do you find the 2019 GLC Coupe generally and also with regards to the NOX issues. I really like the shape and have toyed with considering one as my next car but I really am beginning to be put off the Merc star badge and moving to either Audi or BMW!!

I love it for comfort ,power and it's practical for my lifestyle , dogs etc. only gripe is front end tyres crabbing in the cold , so I've got 2 sets of rims . Summer and all seasons , softer rubber all seasons takes the crabbing away. Nox sensors are now on I think version 8 , and with the ad blue additive anti crystal formula , I think we've a better chance of success. I intend keeping the glc for a good while and if I get Nox or ad blue issues I'd have it mapped out at around £250.at present I'm covered by a 3 year warranty, something maybe to consider.

There's not many coupes on the roads either , another plus.

Is it the Fortes crystals you use? I've just been reading about them to try and find a solution. Would also be interested to hear your thoughts on mapping it out. If I can find a decent solution either crystals or mapping to keep my e class I would.
I agree crabbing can be a pain. Had it with a few cars I have had (Triumph spitfire and Porsche Boxter were the worst) but manageable and becomes part of the experience really haha

I used wynns commercial. It's a 500 ml bottle.

250 MLS to a tank of ad blue.
 
Do you have a link to the product please? Just googling and there's a few different offerings. Cheers
