I have purchased an iCarsoft MB V2.0 scanner and when I connect it to the car, my 2005 CLK200K, A209 model, it only reads the first two modules, ECM and TCM!
I bought the scanner to assist in reading faults with the Parktronic system and it will. not read any of the module except the first two so trying to determine what the fault is and looking for help.
Does anyone with a similar car model/year have this scanner and can they read all the 24 modules?

Have you tried updating the scanner software. ?

Yes, updated it as soon as it arrived, have tried both versions on the device. When I contacted iCarsoft they told me to try the version up to 2004, but no luck with that either!

I have c209 and the mb ii reads loads of modules including the Parktronic. Infact it takes a good few mins when doing an auto scan. What shows up when you do a manual scan?

A manual scan shows all the modules but when one is selected it shows the error message that it can’t connect, it does this for all the modules except the engine and transmission.

As you have tried a different version of software, it is not likely to be a software issue.
If you have access to another car, you could try it on that to rule out any issues with the car.

It is looking likely that you may have a faulty unit.

For completeness... the fault may lie with the scanner, the cable, or the car... a process of elimination would work to establish what's what.

I have now connected another scanner and that can’t read the other modules, comes up with an error code of P202B-008, CAN message from control module EIS, CAN signal interruption drive authorization.

no, just with ignition on.

I think this is a crazy fault, all of the cars functions appear to work correctly, doors, windows, parking sensors etc, all fuses are ok, the only real fault is with the communication from CAN to the scanner!

The fault seems to be a communication error with ESP. Although you are not getting any obvious symptons the car is not happy with something.

Have a look at this article as a starter.

which article?

Check out South Main Auto on YouTube - he has some very good diagnostic vids, including dealing with NO COMM situations which is what yours sounds like due to the scanner not being able to read the modules.

Its probably a stupid bloody sensor that has gone dead short and pulled the whole CAN network down.

To repeat a post above. You need the car running to access all modules. I have a CLK and struggled with icarsoft first time. Only registered all modules once the car was running. Could it be that?

Have just tried scanning again, plugged scanner in then started engine, then selected the car model and ran auto scan, scanned 24 modules but only shows two, ECM and TCM! Then tried manual and link error on all other modules!

There are some useful links on this page - W209 CAN bus communication system - info

I think it will be a difficult issue to diagnose where you could end up disconnecting connections at the CANBUS junctions until you find the faulty item.
As mentioned earlier, something is probably taking the bus down.

Another useful doc concerning CANBUS - http://www.carlogic.org/bg/data/MB CAN(ICC).pdf
