He was on BBC news on telly and his words were, "Well I didnt hurt anyone, people can criticise me but if I shut off the engine I'd lose everything, my power steering and control"

So thats his view, did someone explain common sense to him, maybe change down a few gears...

couldnt change down gears - automatic, jammed in drive according to the report.

TBF turning the engine off would make sense but self preservation would dictate not wanting to lose the steering or any chance of brakes worling!

Good stuff that everyone is ok - the guy looked exactly as i would expect of a 318 driver though

also why didnt he just go round the roundabout at 135? We are always hearing about how good the handling is on these beemers........

ok, he would loose power steering but surly on the motorway he would just be able to turn the wheel onto the hard shoulder and eventually slow down to a stop.

i cant help thinking he did this on purpose just to have a "legal-joyride". he looked the type

Police patrol cars were also sent but struggled to catch up with the BMW 318.
