Idle and cruise control issue

Hello All

My 1994 C280 (W202, M104) has an intermittent issue where the revs will idle at about 1200 rpm and the cruise control stops working.

This has happened twice in the last 1000 miles.

For example yesterday I stopped, put the car in park and left the engine running while I let a friend out. Suddenly the revs picked up to 1200. On the way home the cruise control would not work. After stopping and starting the engine, the engine idled correctly and the cruise worked as it should.

Does anybody have any ideas?

Much appreciated

Darren

Suspect the throttle flap unit. It sounds like it loses it's position so can't operate cruise.
It's worth having a look at the connections and inside the housing as they cost £££.

I would go with Dieselman cleaning thottle is worth a try if not I have a good 2nd hand thottle houing for a c280 text me your chassis number and I can check if its the same then we can try swopping it if it is Andy 07779 160914

Is,nt the cruise control on these early 202's operated by vacuum via a diaphragm rather than the later (97 on) with electronic throttle control.
If this is the case i would be looking for a possible air leak, split/dislodged pipe etc.

Google bba reman and look under mercs for common problems.
