idle rpm?

My c230k tends to idle at traffic lights etc at about 1200rpm, it sounds a little too high, and after a minute or two it does usually drop to about 8/900, is this normal? Can't seem to recall my other Merc idling this high, any info appreciated.

Other than that, the car runs and sounds beautiful, (touch wood!)

Your idle tickover should be about 550 - 750 rpm. Not sure why its revving so high then dropping. I should but its late ( my excuse and I am sticking to it )

Yeah, it sounds a bit high to me.

Just an idea, and I've done this, and that is to clean the throttle body, you know, where that metal disc goes up & down, sometimes muck gathers around there. Also you can adjust it by twisting it to see where it comes up cleanest to the stop.

As I've said, I've done this just as a matter of course. I hope it will help you.
