If you could improve your MB?

If you could improve anything about your beloved MB what would it be?
When I had the C43 I wished it could corner better and have far greater grip. Now I have a C32 I wish I had a throatier engine tone and a bit more 'connection' with the road.

Obviously some of you will say 'I wish I had 550bhp' but this is about making your MB a bit more of what it is....

More low down torque and quicker steering. The rest is pretty good.

If my w202 wasn't going to rust I would have kept it. Always wanted more power ~250bhp would have been good and the engine up to it, but could have lived with it if not for the corrosion risks.

I could do with more torque, I have changed everything else, brakes suspension, steering and looks :)

You should have got a C55 :D

I have to say I'd improve the sound-proofing (in the back mainly) the tyre noise can be a little intrusive at times, though I appreciate that it could be down to the tyres themselves.

Other than that I wish I had air-con.

I wish I had a wood & leather steering wheel.

I wish I had a split/foldable rear seat in the W203

Things that could have been better in the C43:

Steering is a bit wooly, should have been much sharper.

Fuel consumption is dismal: no surprise, but why didn't they fit a bigger tank? 180 miles between fill-ups is not enough.

And I wanted a manual. (Gearbox, that is. Not as in handbook). I've got used to the auto, but still..

Just my thoughts. If you read this, you owe me a penny. ;)

Cheers,

Gaz

Not me - 450bhp would be ideal in the C32 ;)

Two cup holders in the front of the C32 - or at least a bigger one in the centre console.

A way of preventing rattles when the child seat is in a reclined position mounted using ISO-FIX (doesn't happen on belt, or if upright??!!)

More sound proofing in the ML (engine noise can be excessive under hard acceleration).

C55 is a V8..

The C55 just doesn't sound like a C43. My ex-C43 had real deep low frequency. :D

2 cup holders.. yes! See it's those simple things that make all the difference.

Best improvement for my E280CDI would be for the stealers to go on a customer awareness course - and to have "smug & slimy" removal surgery.

Im actually happy with my 124, wish I could get the turbo's in a bit sooner, but Im told 'good things come to those that wait'. 335 BHP here we come :bannana:

The w211 and w220 could do with being better build, the interior just doesnt feel like it will last for ever, the way the real Mercs were. But I guess its cost and weight saving that their after. Reliability has been a big issue for me with the s320cdi, Id definatly not buy another s-class.

i wish the paint was thicker and more durable, So my 5 year old Slk320 stop rusting:mad: so far all 4 wheel arches, boot lid (above number plate), roof, lots of paint damage on a 40000 mile car,

I think the facelift -was it 2002- made all the difference on the S class. Delighted with my 220 series S320cdi: 2005 build, 20,000 trouble free miles and the interior quality and all round feel makes this the best Merc I've owned out of the 11 I have had since the early 80's. I know folks like to say the old Mercs were best but I really feel the comfort, the performance, the quietness, the roadholding and the incomparable ride make this car worthy of so many magazines voting it best saloon car in the world. What would I want to improve? Nothing.
