is it easy to remove ignition coils on 95 w202 i went to scrap yard to get them of and i couldnt im geting them coz im try ing to sort out the lumpy idling ive changed engine mounts spark plugs plug leads air filter and fuel filter i dont want to keep buying stuff so i was going to get them in the scrap yard just to rule them out

Just a suggestion from someone who's not far away:

Check out the wiring to the MAF in case you wind up like me - see the post on the incendiary 124 - as mine started out that way.

Also try cleaning the MAF; there are plenty of threads (by folks who know a lot more about it than I do) on cleaning it with a spray - don't touch it.

thanks for the reply my car doesnt have a maf it just has a sensor coming in at the throttle body in to the air filter thing

You sure it doesn't have a MAS ?

I'm not sure if you across the pond have the same issues, but here in N.A. the wiring harnessess go faulty. The plastic sheathing around the copper wire breaks and falls off causing a short in the system. Inspect wiring at fuel injectors and ignition coils.

The early cars had 2 ignition coils ( each serving 2 spark plugs) mounted under the inlet manifold. They are difficult to get to but not impossible with correct tools. In the later cars the coils are mounted under a cam cover plate. Each coil is mounted on top of a sparksplug with a short extension HT lead to the other plug it fires. You have to remove the inlet pipe which runs from the air filter housing across the top of the engine to the throttle body to remove the plate.

Jesse's advice should be taken most seriously, lest you end up with this:

95 c200 will not have a maff a comon prob is the pms ecu its under the window washer bottle its black with two large plugs from the loom & engine try a good clean remove the plugs and clean the pins ect might help

Ill strip the black cloth stuf wrapped around the wiring loom and have alook should i disconnect the battery before i do it

just a quick question i didnt get the chance to have a look at the wiring loom only in from work on the way home the car acted up again and it seems to only happen when the car is at 80 degrees temp it struggles to keep at idle the rev counter bounces all over the place then i turn the car of and then start it up again and it does be ok someone i know mentioned it could be cat converter making it happen what do yous think of that

Not the cat, the rev counter bouncing points to an ignition related problem, or maybe engine speed sensor.
