I'm considering Lorinser wheels

I'm thinking some Lorinser LO wheels would be a nice touch on my 126 as I would like an upgrade and they have that OEM+ look if you know what I mean. I don't want anything over the top or not period in keeping with the car so it would seem these fit the bill nicely.

What would be a reasonable price to pay for these wheels as I have absolutely no idea on the value?

If any one on here has used them how did the car drive on them?

The wheels are the type top left of this picture...http://w124-mbclub.3dn.ru/_ph/14/466902721.jpg

That looks fantastic. Forgive my ignorance but is that a special edition or did you go custom on the colour?

Assume there was no nasty side affects going with bigger wheels/wider tyres?

I've just noticed what car you have now! I spotted a cream yellow T5-R saloon on the A6 yesterday:D

Hi James,

The car was bought by my father a few years back from a gentleman in wales who had it painted for his wife in the yellow you see. then i took it over and was sold a little while later, as his health wasnt/isnt great and couldnt look after it, he is 80 now :(

The Wheels were great and it tracked really well, one thing we did find was the tyre size was a little odd to get hold of cant remember what size now but where only available in Michelin at the time.

I have had a Gul 854 t5r Volvo saloon, but have a black estate to which ive kept and tuned. im now looking around for its possible replacement.

Thanks for the info.

An 850 is hard to replace, I had a few, tried the first gen v70, great car but the fit and finish not the same, newer v70's nice but got heavier and more complicated. Don't get me wrong they are very competent but I just like the retro stuff a bit more.
The black estate looks very mean.

volvo/mercedes hummm

Thanks for your kind words, i just miss the feel of the Mercedes Build and the smooth auto box's, i love Volvo and have spent £££s keeping it maintaind but a change is on the cards i just dont know what to replace it with.

The thing is with a Mercedes i certainly wouldnt need to change a thing i think they are pritty much perfect to start with and best left alone, (engine) wise lol

I had a bright red 850 estate, when the shell got bent  I replaced it with a bright red 124 estate. Still a 2.3 but minus a couple of hundred bhp:D

The Merc has sport trim/seats and sportline suspension. Its a nice solid and retro place to be. I find it to be a very well balanced car, the handling is better than an 850. The road holding not quite but has more feel.
Oversteer is often but smooth and only at a very shallow slip angle.

One day when I get it back from SWMBO I would like to convert it to Cosworth 16v or 230 Kompressor with a manual box.

Very nice wheels don't pop up for sale often, they were available in 15" and 16" and the 16" are very pricey on the market when you can find them I saw a mint refurbed set sell for just under a grand last year so be prepared!! There's only a few sets of rims which set off a w126 and lo's are definately up there

Mabz, I totally agree about not many wheels suiting a 126. Even then I think some have to have the full kit to look right, eg. Amg penta's really need the Amg body kit to work. I just know some rarities attract many thousands, its hard to value something when you never see them for sale.
Reason for me asking is I know of the wherabouts of some, and I will be trying to do a deal on them plus some other Lorinser bits and pieces.

Best choice for a W126 by far, lovely wheels and still in keeping with car. I've only ever seen them on C126's so they maybe difficult to find and thus expensive. Good luck.

sounds promising mate, best of luck with getting them they are lovely rims. athough borbet b's are non oem but are period i would think they suit a 126 nicely,i had a set a few years back, lovely wheels but a pain to keep clean.

Borbet B's very nice. I like a nice retro cross spoke (apart from keeping them clean) but I have had a few cars with them now so would be nice to have a change.

Mine are 225/50/16 but it's a staggered set of wheels and those rears are et11 offset so they sit well.

I have cross spokes on my other car and I have to say I find the LO more of a pain to keep clean than those.

They drive ok but were bent when I got them and had to have them straightened, still a bit of a vibration now but it's not too bad.
Noticeable tramlining compared to the original wheels though, maybe because they are staggered?
Cost varies on size, you can get them quite cheap (£500?) if they are 15",the bigger they go the more expensive and staggered can add to the cost too. The 9" set can go for a lot of money, I've seen them advertised for £1500.

See pic of my first SEC with lorinsers... looked awesome.
