Independent in the NorthWest

They have their good and bad points as Shude will tell you. I get quite a few bits and bobs from them. I find that their prices for old bits can be competative, if you stear away from a guy called Steve. I purchased a set of new plug leads from them for £38, good value I thought. The negative side, Shude caught them having lunch in a customers car, not the sort of experience you want to whitness.

My guys, S&R in Formby, aren't too far away from you. I've been using them for 8-9 years. Cannot fault them. Ray, the owner, was 12 years with a Benz dealer and maintains his accrediation thru MB courses at Milton Keynes. Does MOTs, now, too.

Cheers, Jukie.

Jimmy supplies really good leads at a good price. I think they are just as good as the mb ones. Autoleads i think they are called..

Will he stamp my service booklet if I ask him nicely??
(why are you laughing??)

Who's laughing? Of course he'll stamp your book. Why wouldn't he?

Well as its my First MB (hence the obvious naivety) I thought it wouldnt be an option, and only a main dealer will stamp a service booklet.
I'll bear this in mind when my next service due as I was going to take it to my local, M-B of Warrington.
I have the impression that stamping service booklets is an exclusive task only carried out by main dealers.....
Bear with me, I serviced my own car over the last 9+ yrs, wouldnt trust anyone else with it

I meant no offence. The stamp of a reputable, experienced indie is perfectly in order for most people, whatever vehicle you drive or the particular expertise of said mechanic.

None taken m8.
I had a bad experience in the past with a renault dealer in which i was driving around in a deathtrap after a dealer service.
they replaced my front pads but forgot to secure the pad retainer on the front o/s caliper, it flew off whilst going down the M56 2 days later @ 90MPH.
I remember thinking "that doesnt sound good" and later that day had a funny noise under braking going down a country road, upon inspection next day found my o/s pads hanging out of the top of the caliper ready to snag in one of the holes on my wheel, lock it up and throw my car sideways into the nearest hedge (or wall)

Needless to say I was pretty p*ssed because my wife had used the car in the intervening period driving my eldest son around ,and so ended my association with dealerships, apart from picking up service parts!.

...has this dealer now converted to a TVR dealership? I passed there the other week and eyed a few TVR's and I've just seen an advert in the local Guardian for a Gorner's TVR dealership.

If this is the case where will you be taking your's for a service?

No, that's HL Gorner; was a MB dealer but lost that and is now a Brabus, TVR and Skoda (!) dealership. MB Warrington is Road Range on Farrell Street (near Sainsburys). I take mine there as well - very good service  (but may go indy soon).

Cheers

Ah, yes - that used to be the BM dealership didn't it?

Don't *think* so (but await to be proven wrong ;) ) - I thought they built it from scratch. But it is *way* too small - there's never anywhere to park and they can only fit about five cars in the showroom. Last time I was in, they were talking about having a new place built on the A49, where the BMW dealer is. Don't know how far that has progressed ...

Cheers
Andrew
