Indicator stalk issues

Had issues with wipers not working correctly and washer pump not working at all. So ordered I thought correct new stalk
for my car only to find its not correct, states should be a 5 pin stalk but when I removed mine it's a 6 pin. Car is 2006 CLK 280 coupe. the six pin ones I can see on ebay have the washer decal more towards the end of the stalk, where as my original one doesn't and looks the same as the new 5 pin I bought. Ive put the old one back in for now so can use car but now I have a warning message stating restraint (seat belt problem and windows wont correctly close when closing door.

Had same problem with multi function stalk on CLK, I believe a common fault
No warning lights, indie fitted a new one now all good.
Is the stalk original to car? wind screen washers are a legal requirement in most countries.
Try resetting the windows, full up and hold for 3 seconds and same for down.

Yes common, 5 pin $45 Aust on ebay, Stalk was aftermarket to fit my car but I needed a 6 pin. Original part from MB $452.00Aust. Many blessings to you my friend, I was up at 03:40 this morning moving cars to put the merc under cover due to rain, window problem solved now to sort stalk out.

I'm sorry to hear this , while I have no particular knowledge of your car model , I'd be inclined to send the received wrong item back with a request for a refund , also including thr VIN number from your car and giving them the opportunity to supply the correct part , evan at additional cost . Failing that , please pursue them for a refund within whatever legal recourse is available in Australia ( sorry - I'm in Scotland so not aware of Aussie law , even though I have a couple of pals who emigrated there ) .

Last resort , alas probably the most costly , would be to go to a main dealer ....


Edit , CLKs are not uncommon here in the UK and , if not mistaken , I believe Australia is a right hand drive country same as here , so the stalks shoujd be the same ?

You could do worse than look for a used stalk on UK eBay at a cheap price and take a chance , but confirming with the seller it has the correct pins - but still look for a refund from the place which sold you the wrong one .

Probably of little consolation , but the wiper function of the stalk on my W124 started acting up ; I ordered and received a replacement from eBay , but haven't got around to fitting it yet . My wiper works , but sometimes keeps working when I want it to stop !!!

Pontoneer, I think the stalk will same as saloon W203, The CLK is just a 2 door version of the saloon.
