Title says most of it, really. Can anyone recommend a good indie in the Slough /High Wycombe/ Maidenhead area?

I use and recommend Star Motor Services at Caversham.

PCS in Horndean would be my recommendation. Fab at what they do, but nice guys too. LINK.

Have they relocated to the Slough /High Wycombe/ Maidenhead area or would going there still require a 140+ mile round trip?

Star Motor Services in Caversham are your best bet locally. I've been using them for 15+ years. Star Motor Services

Whilst Olly @ PCS is highly recommended by me also, and I've also had good reports of Star Motors. More locally the two I would recommend (have also used both) are:

Wheels VT Loudwater (between HW & Beaconsfield)
Mercedes Car Servicing in High Wycombe : Wheels VT Ltd

Wayne Gates (Harrow) - Terry is a member on here too.
Wayne Gates Specializing in Mercedes Benz

Terry at Wayne Gates is well worth a visit, depending upon exactly where you are.

That's not really that far if you are getting the best service.

IIRC, there's a member on MBClub who drives from Liverpool to PCS. That's pushing it somewhat. :)

Ian @ Star has people who live on the Continent who bring their cars to him (which I personally think is getting a bit silly).

Both Star & PCS have excellent reps, but the OP asked for a recommendation for an indy in the Slough /High Wycombe/ Maidenhead area, not for peeps to name their favourite indy up & down the length of the country.

I was merely pointing the OP in the direction of PCS. He can then make up his own mind if he thinks the trip there is worth it or not. :)

Thank you, gents; that's great. From where I live, if I chuck a stone really hard I could almost land it on VT's roof, so I think I know where to go!

Thanks again

Can you let me know you get on with VT Wheels? I live in Stoke Poges and my 2001 E302 has a sick auto box - every few miles all drive goes! Fault codes are P2500 and P2502 if anyone has any ideas

I too would be interested to know your experience of VT Wheels as I am contemplating using them. (CL500 gear shift increasingly difficult to get out of park).

It sounds to me like the plastic lever inside the selector module is on its way out.

If it breaks completly you will not be able to get it out of park.

When it breaks you have two options

1 to replace the whole selector module which is around £600.
Or
2 i know of a company that makes the lever seperatly so can be replaced at a cheaper cost
