Try a green cotton filter, I've done about 80k miles with one and I don't think it's done any harm, compared to Graham's 5 miles with a K&N which ate his MAS!Spinal said:IF its performance, fit a New filter, I believe K&N do some that replace the stock ones..

I've never oiled it. The filters are so cheap I was thinking about throwing it away and replacing with a new one TBH.Spinal said:Thats the one! Shude quick question, how often do you need to oil your filter? I've thought of changing, but I tend to be quite forgetfull ...

Only... if you are looking to turbo charge your W202 then perhaps the thread you are after is HERE
You will find that the new filter improves the response of the engine and does change the tone a little at higher rpms, I always thought the 230k engine sounded a little strained when pushed but the filter makes it sound a little happierbenny said:Im thinking im gonna go safe with a replacement Filter as my luck with car's
is to say the least... S**T and i just know that after all that has been said
I'LL be the one who get's every problem going.
superchargers are driven by a pulley running off the engine, rather than on exhaust gases like a turbo.benny said:s/c pulley?

Change the pulleys for larger/smaller ones (depending on which pulley) and you can safely increase the amount of air forced into the engine by up to about 50%.
Pulleys start at about £300 from some nameless places up to about a grand from the likes of Kleemann and Brabus, but the effect is basically the same.
Unlike software tuning, high performance spark plugs, cotton air filters etc which "could add up to 5% more power" this is proper engineering with decent results!
