Hi guys was considering using some Injector cleaner on my W203 2005 C180K. Its currently has 165,000 miles on the clock and more recently I have noticed it hesitates ever so slightly. Does anyone know if injector cleaner works well with these engines? Or can anyone recommend a good injector cleaner?

Many thanks

You could try a tankful of fuel that contains cleaning agents e.g. V-Power.

I use V-Power regularly (BP Ultimate is also good), so you can try a few tankful of those.

Other than that I have used in the past Redex (the green label) with very good results, though mechanics seem to prefer Forte.

Hey sham off topic but are you the same sham from a BMW forum?

Hi there, I'm going through a similar issue with my W126 300SE at the mo. Spluttering / hesitation / misfiring at around 60mph which disappears at higher speeds. After a long motorway run splutters slightly on acceleration between 15 - 30 mph. Had new plugs, oil service about a month ago. New Dizzy Cap and rotor arm 6 months ago. New valve seals about 9 months ago. I filled up on a tank of Texaco Super and it started doing it. Im going to put in a tank of V Power and some injector cleaner. If that doesn't sort, whats the next thing to look at? Plugs? And if that doesn't sort what next?

smoothrider. do you know how old are the spark plug leads? You should look if you can see them sparking in dark. mine did on 300ce - changed them and misfire was gone.

try millers oils injector cleaner..... 1/2 bottle to 1/2 tank then as per instructions.

expect sudden power loss with noise of a load of marbles going through the exhaust............ its the deposits blasting off the bores etc.... keep the revs up when it does it (motorway run is ideal)

performance slowly returns as the crap comes off the valves and you end up with better power and response.

it outperforms superV etc by a mile

I hear good things about Forte fuel treatment. Just put a shot through my audi but it hasn't done enough miles to make any huge difference on mine.

I've used it in the past and recently on my C320 with a full tank of Shell V-power and i've noticed a difference.:thumb:

Without wanting to sound critical, isn't engine cleaning the claims made for V-power petrol anyway, if so why should an additional injector cleaner work?

Yes so they say, but I'm not sure so I bought the Wynn’s anyway and people who used it with the same symptoms as the OP seem to be happy! (Customer review tab)

If the injector cleaner actually did something that's a signal to bin the V-Power.

I only use it as it's 99 ron plus the points, I get about £10-£12 ever now and then in vouchers for fuel and other stuff etc..

Surely the Wynns, Fortes , Red -X etc all have most of their ingredients in common. Havent the auto-shop buffs got all the info here. Or can this self-diagnosis ever backfire ?

Yes mate I am also on a particular BMW forum, why do you ask?

When I worked on a motorcycle dyno, we saw noticeable improvements in the "brick-dust" that accumulates in motorcycle float bowls by slooshing some Texaco Clean system 3 around in it (now surpassed by Techron).
Forte injector cleaner works well too.
