Hi All,
New here and first post (although not new to MBs), please be gentle.
I'm fitting LEDs lamps to the instrument cluster on my '99 CLK-230 W208. The original bulb behind the temperature display was blown so I thought I might as well do the lot while I was in there. All was going well (a few needed to be removed and turned through 180 degrees as I progressed because of the polarity) and then for some reason I lost all the lights in the centre of the dash - for the speedo, turn signals and central LCD display.
I've read elsewhere that having the key in the ignition whilst doing this (I'm 99.9% sure that I didn't at any point) can cause a fault which needs to be reset by the dealer, does anyone know if that's the case, or have experience of a similar problem? A couple of the LEDs were pretty loose and I had to bend the terminals on some of them to get a good tight fit, is it possible that a poor connection might have caused a surge?
I'm dearly hoping that someone can tell me this is a simple case of holding a button down to reset it!
Fuses are all checked and ok by the way.
Thanks in advance.
