Insurance quote

Can I suggest you look at the excess as well as the premium. My premium with LV has increased by £110, my wife’s by about £20 (no accidents or claims or speeding fines by either of us for 20+ years although age might be a problem with mine. Aviva declined to quote online, Admiral quoted almost double my current LV premium.
So back to LV for a more detailed look. Excess two years ago was £450, last year it increased to £600, this year it has jumped to £800.
Juries out at the moment and another sleepless night.

You all must live in nice areas in London I can’t get below £1200 for the C63

Im glad i don't live in London my c63 is £550 with £250 excess with agreed valuation 🙂

Hoping it drops when my theft claim on the GLC expires but still think it won’t go below £800-£900 that’s how much I was paying on the GLC with 15 years no claim and no claims on record

Location makes a surprising difference to premiums. Mine reduced by around 20% when we moved house, everything else the same. It surprised me just how much difference it made.

Mine went down about twenty quid when I moved from Bognor to Pagham.....a suburb of Bognor only about 3 miles along the coast!!

Thats why the DVLA and insurers insist on having your current address , it helps the insurers asses the risk and it's illegal not to have the correct address in the eyes of the DVLA.

As an aside I know a bloke who has used his moms address for both for (at least) the last 30 years or so , he moved out 40 years ago. He has had various fines , accidents/insurance claims and even been self employed as a delivery driver . He has never had a problem with the fact that his details are wrong on both his insurance and his drivers licence.

He has been warned that he could get into serious bother if he has an accident and is found out. He doesn't care.

He is now employed as a delivery driver ......technically uninsured. he's a bit of a nob as well.

Ye I know a few people once they move out of their family home but keep that address on their licence if it’s a better postcode for insurance. I don’t mess around with insurance and stuff like that I always believe they try hard not to pay out so better to have everything correct

Do you mean employed as a delivery driver using his own vehicle. Would he be technically uninsured if he was using his employers vehicle.

He has been technically uninsured for decades, ever since he moved out of his moms house and did not change his address with DVLA, insurers and employers.

No matter who owns the vehicle he is driving.

Beware Flow insurance company. Used martins money tips comparison tool 11 months ago. Decided that 'Flow' seemed amongst the best. All well for the year. Renewal time and premium up by 48% They do not have a telephone help line and discourage email haggling. Think i will compare the meercat again... :(

We’re on Admiral multi car and last year I was surprised when it dropped £200. This year it’s gone up £250 so I’ll have another look around though I’m not hopeful of getting a better deal.

Also, anyone have any recommendations for modified classics?

Try classic line in hinckley, hagerty in Silverstone and Aplan.

Similar, mines went from £600 to £1000. Asked Admiral if they can do any better and they knocked off £200. Better the nothing

Thanks - i'll give them a go!

Its renew insurance time but a bit early this year so no renewal cost from current company as yet

Filled in all the paperwork on LV site for a quote on my 2015 SL63 AMG that its computer system recognized after filling in the number plate on line 2 page 1

Get to the end of pages of form filling adding my wife etc etc ......... and "....Sorry we don't insure this type of car..." WHY they could have said that at the start

Sigh........... that's with 37 years NCB............ nothing on license........... but just one speeding fine 1969. for 34 in 30mph zone

I do have other quotes and its over a month until renewal just want to sort it before holidays but wasting time with LV is not appreciated

As to Admiral............ to be fair this is decades ago just after my younger son past his test and bought his first car he used them. He bashed wings with another car that was settled knock for knock in the end

He rings admiral and is told..........don't drive your car as its a right off at its listed value ........your insurance is cancelled..........we will send a truck to collect it.........tonight

So as its only has minimum damage he had a friend move it on a trailer off road and 2 month later after long letters from him and me ........... a new head lamp is fitted and a wing knocked out and sprayed and Admiral ended up carrying on his insurance! But unsurprisingly he never renewed with them

Admiral was very cheap but when you need insurance cheap is often not the best option

I have a R231 SL insured with LV, I appreciate it's only a 500 not an AMG but it is mapped and they're happy to insure it? Hope they haven't changed under writers and won't cover me at renewal 🤔

Prices are on the up

Just done the rounds with the Meerkats and had to settle for an increase across the four cars but did get a decent reduction of Admiral in the end (but only off their 57% renewal increase!)

Theiving bar stewards (and I deal with insurance as part of my job!)

Got my RAC all bells and whistles renewal quote just now.
My RAC cover ran out at midnight, I mistakenly thought it was auto renewing at £235 and I had gone online a few days ago and pressed the renew now option which told me I had to phone them but couldn't get through. So when I noticed this morning they had not taken any money for the renewal I gave them a call to renew. I was informed as my policy had now lapsed the renewal price was now £350 so told them to forget it.
Searched on line and 10 minutes later had insurance cover for only £209, why do insurance companies not want to keep existing customers?
