hi my c class 200 95 has being lying up for a while, and the interior is cloth and full of mould,im geting the car back on the road, and im just looking to see does anyone know what to clean it with, and it also smells bad,any products in halfords you would recommend using.thanks for your help

Ok no joke - I'm used CIF bathroom mousse to good effect in the past.

Spray on, rub in a bit and then wipe over with a damp sponge. Keep wringing the sponge out as you go and rinsing out the dirt.

You'll be amazed at the much that comes off and the car smells all lemony afterwards.

Do test it in a corner first though!

thanks for you help, thats the last thing i would of thought about, and the lemon smell will be much better than the mouldy smell

Call a mobile valet mate and get the job done well and for no more than £60 otherwise you will need the following:

Vinyl
A min of 16 cloths
A degreaser
Paint brush
Brush
Silicone or dresser to finish

Upholstery carpet

Vacuum
Shampoo ideally bio
Sponge
Bucket
Brush
Extraction machine

Get scrubbing 3-4 hours on your own.

Maybe steam clean?

Name of my company:D but would not recommend this only, the car is full of bacteria it needs to be cleaned and extracted.

If truly steam cleaned it would kill any bacteria!

With mould you need to kill the spores, use TCP diluted in warm water
and rub off with a micro fibre cloth. air car thoroughly and add scents to taste.

Kill, yes possibly if you use the machine well but it will not clean your car or replace that old smell, so for me don't muck about, vacuum thoroughly then warm water in bucket with bio brisk and sponge and then brush every bit of fabric one section at a time and use extraction machine.

If you have a small carpet machine then same proces but add chemicals and use that machine to clean and extract as well ,so it's been cleaned twice.

Cleaned no more than a dozen mouldy cars and no comebacks following this system.

Yup, a carpet shampoo machine (Rug Doctor) would be the choice. Easily hired for the w/e, job done :)

Another option would be an ozone generator, very effective steriliser and would deal with the spores easily.

Use liquid detergent for clothes, something like Bold etc.
Mix with hot water and scrub the carpet etc with a nylon scrubbing brush.
You will need a wet vac to suck up the water.
Nothing cleans upholstery or carpets as good and i have tried them all.

Make sure you pick a nice day so you can open all the doors to dry it out properly.

Car smells magic :bannana:

I thought ozone is a very harmful gas. We use it at water treatment works and the H&S controls over its generation, use and destruction are immense.

The mould spores need high levels of moisture to survive.
Is there a leak somewhere ?

A dehumidifier in the car after cleaning will help to prevent it returning.

Indeed it is and any unit would need to be operated according to manufacturer's instruction i.e. no human in the car!

It's an extreme solution but one guaranteed to work. (Seek expert advice)
