Like the way the C class Sport estate drives but prefer the wood trim in the elegance. Have been looking at the 10-15k miles stock that has been popping up on dealer forecourts for a while but they all seem to have aluminium trim. Asked for a price in a dealer spares dept for a trim set ( just the parts not fitting ) and it was more than £1000 what have other people done when they preferred a different trim level other than buying a new car ? I guess most of the cars I am looking at are pre registered MB owned ones and presumably a bit of brushed aluminium is a bit cheaper to make than a chunk of veneer.

The sports all have aluminium trim. Dont think you will find one with the elegance wood trim. Some people have done a wrap over the original pieces but I have never seen one so dont know how good it might be.

My sport has the black ash trim and I believe it was something like a £160 option at new.

All these bits should be interchangeable however I suppose it depends on what cost the bits are but there isn't that much of it.

I believe that aluminium trim or the look alike silver plastic trim (No doubt far less expensive than the real thing), is no more than a current fashion or vogue. All manufacturers therefore have a boring sameness with their car interiors. It will be hard at the moment, for you to find a model without it but I hope you are successful. Look on the brightside, the fashion will not last forever, it never does.

Mercedes probably price the trim for the higher spec models artificially high to prevent owners of the base spec cars from "upgrading" The fact you are really swapping one high grade trim for another unfortunately doesn't help.

There are companies out there that do customer wood trim.

For the sort of money MB want, I suspect you could get something rather special custom built.

Hi I Am changing my dash to the facelift one soon and I would have all the pieces in a light oak coloured wood finished to sell if you are interested I would not be looking for big money for it,a reasonable offer and it's sold

where are the companies

I've just bought an old w203 and assumed I could change the trim but found out otherwise. Who are these companies you mention who can do a good job of mb trim?

Thanks

How about trying to wrap the panels in a carbon fiber vinyl?

Hi Oilman

Definitely interested in that. Because I am a new boy on the site I am not able to PM you but perhaps you are able to send me a message.
