I'm seriously considering an ipad but have discovered it will not be able to run the EPC (which is not Mac compatible). Can someone confirm this is the case please and/or, is there an emulator to make it think it's a PC and it therefore will work.

Ta.

I shall try to use Parallels mobile to see if it could cope with EPC ... to be honest, I'm not too hopeful (works fine on MacBookPro in full version of Parallels). The experiment is planned for next month though, so won't have an immediate answer, I'm afraid.

I can access the EPC via my desktop PC, but I just tried via my iPad and got "Safari cannot download this file" when I hit the "Launch EPC" button. From memory of first running it on my PC, it relies on a Java applet download. If there's a way of enabling Java on the iPad I'm not sure what it is.

Thanks. EPC does rely on Java to work. So there's no way Java can work with Mac?

java works on macs but epc does not. EPC doesn't work on iOS either.

For what it's worth, I was sceptical about iPads, as I already had a desktop PC and small laptop. But i got offered one really cheap and it's absolutely brilliant. It fulfills an entirely different role I never knew I needed.

I haven't used the laptop since I bought it, and would replace it tomorrow if it broke. Id go for it and get a cheap desktop PC for storage, the odd thing that requires a keyboard, big screen, or flash player - like EPC.

^ yeh I'd love an ipad too but use my laptop for EPC quite a lot and could not get on without having it on a mobile platform.

I use vmserver to host a virtual windows pc (for testing stuff) and connect to that from my iPad so that may be an option for you.
