iPhone4 cradle problems in 'Convenience' mode

I have just purchased the latest genuine mercedes cradle for the iPhone4 and paired it in my W204. It all connects great and i managed to upload all my nuumbers etc...The problem is whenever it is in 'Convenience' mode and I try to make a call it wont connect and just cuts off after around 5 seconds. I can see however that it is dialling the number etc...

If I switch to normal bluetooth the call works fine. Its a mystery as it is paired for convenience mode and it charges the phone etc... However I can only make or receive calls if I got to 'telephone list' and switch from 'convenience' mode to normal bluetooth connection.

Has anyone else experienced any problems?

Yes I have had exactly the same thing, up until last Saturday. When I first had the cradle installed it worked fine, but I never had the phone ringing through the speakers when someone called it but through the handset only, and then 3 weeks ago the same issue as you. It goes to ring holds out for about 5 seconds and then comes up and says can not connect call.

It now works fine but I'll be honest I haven't a clue how I fixed it, but what I did do was disconnect/delete all the contacts from the car, disconnect the phone to the car and reconnect it again, went into Bluetooth in the phone switched that off and back on, and hey presto it now rings makes calls fine and has also sorted out my ring problem in that the ringtone from my phone now comes through the speakers of the car. Dont ask me why doing this fixed but it did....I was getting quite frustrated with it and was about to storm back to MB and demand they sort this.

Oh and obviously re loaded all my contacts back up to the unit after I had done all the other bits.

As you say it worked fine on Bluetooth when it wasn't in the craddle...mine did the same!

Would do the above without deleting the contacts. I would say its an issue with how its all paired up.

I Have the Same Problem Too

I too have absolutely the same problem and I am starting to really dislike Apple's unbeleivable arrogance. I've 'always' been an Apple user (MacBook, iMac x 3, iPhone and iPad) but this takes the biscuit.

I had an iPhone 3 + expensive Mercedes (E350) cradle & when I upgraded to the iPHone 4, the cradle became obsolete. I waited patiently for Mercedes to produce a new cradle and installed it about 2 months ago - more expense but now content.

I then upgraded my iPhone software to 4.3.2 and, guess what? I can't make calls via the cradle/car. I can receive calls and make calls via my phone/bluetooth. All calls come up as 'unknown' and no matter how many times I disconnect, delete contacts, re-connect etc etc etc, the same problem exists.

I contacted Mercedes, who said it was an issue with v4.3.2 and they advised me to contact Apple. So, after talking to a bulk standard operative (and getting nowhere), I spoke to a senior customer support manager, who 'arrogantly' told me that I did not have to run the upgrade!! They also said that Mercedes should issue a firmware upgrade.

Well why have an upgrade in the first place?? It's clearly there for a reason!! They don't exactly say - WARNING: This upgrade will screw up your Mercedes iPhone 4 Cradle!! - Do NOT PROCEED!!!!!

Rant over.

Apple - Please fix & restore your reputation for excellent customer service.

Oh don't say this I upgraded that software the other night and have just got the thing working in my cradle for about the 10th time. I figured out that the Bluetooth symbol has to be grey on the phone in the cradle for it to work and by resetting all your bluetooth connections within the phone seems to restore it.... That is up until this new upgrade. I havent tried it yet but will do so this week and I'll let you no what I find and if this is a problem.

Ok I've just tried to use the iPhone in the cradle and no service came up as predicted. So I went into the settings of the phone into Bluetooth switched off the iPhone cradle connection, left it a couple of minutes, switched it back on and it's now working through the cradle again. Give it a try and see if this works.

Hi guys i was wondering if anyone could help!!!!!
i have just replaced my iphone 3 cradle for a iphone 4 one....
and its not working... or i should say i cant connect my phone to the cradle... the old iphone 3 cradle had a button to start connection the clear one on top of cradle.... but i cant find any button on the iphone 4 cradle to start connection.... i have a 2009 c63 amg

any help would be good
