iPod and Comand

The C Class is over 3 years old and 75k miles so I'm considering trading it in for a nearly new 58 or 09 E220 estate.

As far as I understand things from searching threads on this forum, if I buy a car with Comand even if I then add the pukka MB iPod interface I still won't be able to read artist info or full track names on the Comand unit. I'll be limited to truncated track names displayed in the instrument cluster only. Which is how it works in my C class without Comand.

Have I misunderstood, or am I indeed missing something?

MB iPod interface only shows in the cluster, you are correct. I find it very frustrating!!

Maybe the new hard drive COMANDs will be different?

MB ipod kit only displays in the instrument cluster.

If you want display on the comand unit then you will need a W204 Class or a model year 2009 comand unit and then retrofit the media interface.
