Head's-up, if like me you just happen to own the 1st generation iPod Nano, Apple are offering to replace them due to potentially faulty battery in some models.

That's a remarkable gesture in this disposable, limited warranty time.

I wonder if they are heading off any possible litigation due to somebody getting, or claiming to be, badly burned ?

There's been a similar program already in Japan and Korea.

There's debate elsewhere on whether the replacement will be an identical iPod Nano 1G (and there are many who are adamant that it will) or the latest version.

I had an iPod Mini where the battery would't charge any longer, but the battery and outer-casing became very hot (I had to take it apart to get the battery out).

I have just applied for mine as well. I have mine pugged into the Media Interface. Superb intergration with Command.

You will receive a replacement unit approximately 6 weeks after we receive your current iPod nano (1st gen).

So, 6 weeks with having to remember to plug in my iPod Touch ever time I get in the car...
