I recently purchased a sprintbooster for my W208 CLK320 (1998) but when it arrived it appeared faulty as when I connected it the accelerator pedal became vertually non responsible. I returned it and recieved a replacement a few days ago.

The problem is the replacement one appears to be doing the same thing. I found it difficult to believe I've got two faulty sprintboosters so I took the car for an extended drive to see if it would somehow spring into life but it hasn't.

Basically from stationary if I press the pedal nothing happens at all unless I floor it and then nothing happens for about 3 seconds and then the car shoots off rapidly. If I release the pedal past half way it becomes unresponsive again unless I floor it again. the really weird thing is the kickdown appears to be working in reverse, ie it changes up instead of down??? I'm starting to think the sprintbooster is working in reverse.

My question is does anyone here have a working sprintbooster attached to their CLK320 1998? or has anyone experienced similar symptoms when they have attached a sprintbooster? or is it simple my car is incompatible with this item?

Cheers

Sorry to hear you are having probs, I don't have a CLK320 but have sprintbooster fitted, and it was just plug and play the effects were immediate. There is some kind of problem, sure someone a bit more technical will advise.

Sounds funny alright ,Check the fitment of the booster ie connections ets ,if all ok i would try disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it ..

Not sure if this has been posted before but makes interesting reading

It has (but well worth posting again !!), and it was a very very interesting read - put me off buying one to be honest.

I was going to buy a sprintbooster, but it seemed they are only available for 2003 model onward. ? Where did you purchase sprintbooster.

Wonderfull, I disconnected the negative terminal on the battery and left it off for an hour.

I then reconnected it and striaght away got an ABS fault and BAS/ESP fault.

And the sprintbooster is still not working.

anyone any ideas on the ABS fault? do I need to reset it in some way when the battery is disconnected?

OK, ABS fault now cleared, and have taken the car for another drive.

I now think the sprintbooster may be working but I'm still getting the 2 to 3 second delay before anything happens??

It appears if I put the pedal at any particular setting there is a delay and then the car responds as it should. I'm wondering if my car is faulty in some way?

I had the fault codes read last week when the gearbox oil was changed and the only codes in there where both pre cat O2 sensors faulty. I've replacements but I've not fitted them yet. The mechanic said this would effect my fuel economy and explain my very occasional brief loss of power and I'm now wondering if this is causing this delay

anyone any thoughts???

Thanks
