Is the CV shaft on the w202 C280 v6 the same as the one found on the C43 AMG?

Last Friday I was having some fun with the traction control off and suddenly the left CV shaft snapped and left me stranded.
I brought this on myself I know...but still it's kinda the point of owning an AMG right? 😅

It's not my daily driver but I am really bummed I can't drive it as it's my weekend toy.

Sourcing one from another C43 is a bit hard as they are becoming harder to find 😏
I was told previously that the C280 & C36 use the same cv shafts as the C43 can anyone confirm this please?
Thanks in advance. ☺️

C36 and C43 driveshafts are the same part number, the C280 one is a different number on EPC, but I think they do still fit.

A2023509410 is the original part number, which was shared with the W208 CLK 320. That number has superceded to A2083501510 now, so might be worth checking if still available from a dealer. Or find a reg number for a CLK 320 off eBay or Auto Trader and speak to a Mercedes parts department and see what they come up with?

Thanks for your detailed reply! Is A2023509410 the part number for the C43? And does the right hand shaft differ from the left one?

Yeah that's the original C43 and C36 part number, they're universal left and right.

As noted, they also fitted them on the CLK320 too. The CLK430 lists the A2083501510 part that the older number now supercedes to so should fit as well.

I have found one with the original part number!
Thanks a lot for the info, have a good day sir.

Left side CV shaft, was that the same side that broke down on the transport trailer when you had your car delivered to Malta after you bought the car from another forum member?
CV shafts on C43 are kinda weak!
If you want to play and burn tires with the traction control OFF perhaps there are more heavy duty shafts you can use or buy aftermarket?
I'm not sure if they fit your car?

Does anyone know if shafts from W203 C55 fits the W202 rear axle?

I don't know of any aftermarket shafts for the W202, they're definitely renowned for being a bit of a weak link. The W208 CLK55 uses beefed up shafts, but I don't know if they're transferrable without using the diff. The factory W202 C55 conversion used the CLK55 diff but needed floor modifications to make it fit. The rear subframe in the W208 is the same part number as the W202  apart from the AMG 55 model so I wouldn't bank on those driveshafts working without some "massaging" or modifications.

Different style of shaft unfortunately. The W203 uses the "push in" type with a circlip on, more like a traditional FWD setup. Rather than the push in halfshafts that then bolt to the main driveshafts like a W202.

so no luck with them using the w203 shafts!

did clk430 have thicker shafts than c43?
i suppose these will fit the c43 rear axle?

The CLK430 part number is what the original C43 number supercedes too, so they're probably identical. The 55 ones are beefier.

With minor tweaks, the E55 shafts from W210 doesn't fit the 3.07 diff?

It won't be impossible, there are companies that shorten prop-shafts after all.
There are probably companies out there like Moser or Strange Engineering etc who would make custom beefed up and "rifle drilled" hollowed shafts to mate to the standard CV joints. Anything is possible with the right amount of time and money!

Hey bro, actually it was the right side so now I will have changed both of them once it arrives. True they truly are weak as I wasn't really being cruel with it 🤔
The plan is to put oem shaft to get it going again and behave for now and in the future put a pair of custom ones and maybe an LSD.

You haven't been on the forum for a long time.
I thought you got rid of the car or something else?

Last time when shaft broke down when you car was delivered by transport did you replace the right side shaft, could you drive your car?

Perhaps both shafts were in poor shape going bad?

There are aftermarket shafts from Spidan or Swag I think?
Are these any good?

I don't know if MB still sell rear drive shafts for CLK320 and 430?
Bet they are pricey?

Yeah I have been busy actually but I would never sell it I like it too much, my dream w202 was always a black on black C43 😋
Since then I have fixed the AC, serviced the engine , replaced the valve cover gaskets and serviced the gearbox and a couple other minor things like all 4 doors seals and headlight seals.
Next trip to the mechanic it will have it's oil filter housing & cooler seals changed, new complete tierod, all rear ball joints & the cv shaft of course. 😁
