Is there anyway this is Genuine?

I think it is genuine!
Trade value below average (with that damage) for that is just under 12k.
The seller has set a reserve, so I imagine he's looking for something in that region.

I thought the facelift happened in 1999, so to find a pre facelift registered in 2002 seems unusual at least.

from the DVLA site:

The vehicle details for LY02 VGC are:

Date of First Registration 01 08 2002
Year of Manufacture 2002
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 3200CC
CO2 Emissions 275g/Km
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Licence Not Due
Vehicle Colour SILVER
Vehicle Type Approval M1

Any buyer should still verify the chassis number anyway.

My W208 was a year 2000 on a W plate (so a coulple of years older than this one) and that had a large square display in the instrument cluster (with symbols and text etc.) This car only has a one and a half line display like my 99 year W202.
How come this car has got the old style instrument cluster?

Yes and indicators on wings, not mirrors, pre-facelift steering wheel etc. This car seems odd!

Good point, I missed those.
Defo suss to me.

Surely it could just have been some old stock and registered late???

Was there not some W124 series that were still being registered even a couple of years back?
