I wonder if the extra tax take on fuel will get swallowed up in repairs to the carriageways.

Heavy lorries cause many thousands times more damage to roads than a car does.
 
I thought the new concrete barriers in the central reservation were being installed due to being stronger than the steel type.

Clearly they don't work so why bother. Cars don't penetrate the steel barriers.

Moved well, I always thought it was a bit rash the way the just slip form them onto a smooth surface.
 
The reason this happens is probably because both HGVs are sitting on the limiter. When the limiter on both is raised to 60mph, then......

Speedlimit for HGVs on the motorway is already 60mph so the limiters won't be changed.

7.5 tonners can do 70 and use the outside lane though.

Years ago, When I drove for comet for a couple of weeks, it was well known that the only way to actually fulfill delivery rounds, in a sensible time was to remove fuse ? (cannot remember the number) then put back at end of shift.
This removed the limiter and allowed, sometimes, up to 90mph.
Tacho was another issue, but I was never asked to produce one in all my lorry driving days. Seemed it was only needed if you had an accident back then. Never had one.
I kept them for a year, then binned them.
