Is this CLK500 worth considering?

Having messed about a bit trying to find a suitable SL to replace my SLK, I have finally decided that a fixed roof is what SWMBO and I need. I think a CLK coupe might suit our needs better and have seen this one at Sytners.

At nearly £16k for my57 and 41k miles it is not cheap but it appears to be a lot of car for the money. What do folk think? Worth the money or outrageous? Are CLK500s generally trouble free or am I going to buy myself a load of trouble?
Thanks

Hi, why not have a look at the black SL500 in Swindon? You've gone nothing to lose, it's a great price in my opinion. It's my ad in the classifieds section and links to pistonheads

Nice try

I saw your ad during my "want to buy an SL phase" but sanity has partly prevailed and I need the rear seats, even though I am still mad enough to persist with the V8 engine. Your car looked very enticing.

It's my uncles car, he's just picked up a gorgeous Ferrari 355 so needs to sell it. He'll take offers but nothing silly

Clk500 amazing

Hi

I have a 2005 clk500 and I have to say in the two years I've owned it it's not given me any major issues. The tyres are expensive and it only does 17 mpg around town, but I accept that and enjoy the V8 power and noise. From what I've read the m113 engine is very reliable, although some quote that the very early 7 speed gearboxes can cause trouble, although mine has been fine. Had the oil changed when I first got it, so I'm hopeful all will be ok.

Servicing is ok cost wise, but budget for a lot of oil for the service and there are 16 spark plugs to replace then they come up for change.

I really enjoy mine, and I tend to get bored after a few years, but I really don't know what I'd change it for with the same budget. Buy and enjoy.

I'm delighted with my CLK500 convertible - had it 2 years and it's cost me nothing that I didn't 'want' to spend on it. As previously mentioned, the rear tyres tend to vaporise if you're not careful, but general servicing costs are OK. I do a 70-mile round trip commute and average high 20s mpg but it can get worse very easily. My only problem seems to be that other people love crashing in to it.......
