Is this normal with my headlights?

C250 CDI Coupe
Hello,

I am new to the MB forum and I am also new to Mercedes-Benz after being a BMW guy. This is my first post:)

I've got a c class coupe which is now 2 weeks old, but I have spotted something unusual.

My car has the intelligent lighting pack but I have noticed that when I looked inside the head light there is a bar that runs just under the light bulb. The bar is painted silver but the bulb appears to be burning the paint on the bar. It is the same on both sides. Surely this isn't normal?

I have attach a picture but its not brilliant to be honest but you should see what I mean.

If anyone has seen this before then please let me know.

Thank you

Nah, that's just rust mate! :thumb:

Perfectly normal on a 2 week old Merc!

I don't think it's rush because the bar is plastic. As I said the picture is rubbish. The bar runs just under the bulb, it looks like a pretty rubbish design.

Just wondered if its the same on other people's car.

Welcome to the forum and our odd sense of humor!

Pop back to the dealer and ask them.

Isn't that part meant to be frosted anyway?

Hi and welcome to you. As John said (trapper) best bet is to ask the dealer, and to look at any other like models.

Sadly it will be perfectly normal and fully expected when the car was being designed/engineered.

Gone are the days of over engineering in the MB camp. They jumped on the mass production at a price bandwagon many moons ago now. The part will look superb when new, not long after will start to degrade in looks but will still function just as well. They certainly don't expect new owners to be looking into such places quite so soon, so it is places like this that they cut corners on.

Nothing wrong with that, all manufactures do the same these days and MB have simply gone down the same route to save money. It is very sad in a way but without the dumbing down in quality that started in the early 90's MB would probably have gone under.

I just thank god they have climbed up a fair bit from the early 90's to recent days when the likes of ford etc built much better and more reliable cars.

Sorry, I seem to have rambled way off topic here and fully expect and accept the verbal bashing I will receive:eek:
