Can anyone help please.

I have an ISO file for a program and want to burn it to a CD to run/install from.

I've 'burned'/ copied the file to a CD but I just get the same file on the CD as I have on my HD

Am I missing a salient point!

Any ideas please guys and gals ?

ISO files are images of CDs. You need to tell your CD writing software to write a CD from an image file not just burn the file. Try "create duplicate" or whetever your software calls it and select the ISO file as the source

ISO files are simply "images" of a CD (or DVD). They need to be burned onto the cd not as an iso file, but as the contents of the iso file. Here are some instructions using nero:

Start Nero Burning.
Follow the wizard steps to select Data CD creation.
When the wizard closes, click Burn Image on the File menu.
In the Open dialog box, select the ISO file, and then click Open.
In the wizard, click Burn to write the image to the CD.

Obviously assuming you have nero burning rom. If you want instructions for roxio or alcohol 120(HIGHLY recommended software) I can get you those too.

Once the CD finishes burning, pop the CD back into the drive and away you go!

Alternatively, with Alcohol 120; you don't even need to waste a CD (assuming you plan to use it on one computer)... but thats a different story.

Anytime, other file types to look out for as CD images are (but not limited to); cue, bin, cif, dat, nrg and a few more. (nrg is nero's home brew, so if you double click on it, nero should auto run...)
