2012 C250 CDi Sport Saloon (On order W205 C250)
All,

I recently took delivery of new 2012 C class saloon and am having some issues with using isofit child seats. I have the rear seat folding option so the isofit 'covering' is different to cars that dont have this option.

I will try and explain (sorry do not have a pic to hand). The anchor points are covered by a fixed leather bolster. Using the isofix guides or without it is extremely difficult to connect seat. I have to use all my force to squeeze the bolster out of the way. Not only is this difficult it leaves indents and marks on the leather.

Just wondering if anyone had any experience or suggestions......

Also I am using approved MB child seats (not the overproced MB ones...)

Regards,
Riz

I just installed an Isofix based seat in a new E class which had a similar flap covering what used to be capped off with small plastic covers. I just pushed the flaps out of the way and there was no need for excessive force. I'll try and take a photo of them so you can see if you have the same ones.

Thanks for your reply. This is exactly the same as for c class without folding seats. I have the folding seats so its different, no caps and flaps.

I have folding rear seats too and have Britax seats. These come with a plastic guide sleeve that you attach first and then makes fitting of the seats quite straightforward. Slot the isofix arms into the guides.

Thanks for reply Sean. I too have a Britax and the plastic guides. But it is very difficult inserting them while trying to squash the seat and bolster apart. I will try and take a picture today/ tomorrow.

Here are some pictures which I hope shows how difficult it is.

I think what you are referring to are those cars that do not have folding seats. The isofix anchors are just visible below my fingers, hence the difficulty I am having.

Yes that's the same as mine Riz. It is a fiddle to fit the guides but once done getting the seats in and out is straight forward.
Not sure how the bolster will look in two years time though!

Holy thread resurrection....however...just gone to fit the sprog seat in mine, same seats and it’s a right faff to find the inside fixing point.
Are these guides a Merc thing or can I grab them from Halfords?
Cheers

I have the guides but gave up trying to fit them. It proved to be less difficult to fit the seats (just changed to the third one because the bloomin’ child keeps growing!) without the guides. My seats are e actly the same as the OP’s. I found that the trick was to extend the legs on the seats as far as possible the ease the fittings onto the Isofix bars with a bit of wriggling of the seat. Finally depress the seat buttons and push the seat back against the car backrest. After four years of childseats in the same car (2012 C350 Sport), the leather still looks remarkably good. I doubt if it would have survived as well if I’d used the guides. (Incidentally, I’ve used the same child seats in other cars that have had nice plastic flaps and they’re so much easier. MB must have banked on people who have fold-down seats not wanting children!)

Thank you.
I’ll have a wiggle at the weekend.
Does kinda defeat the object of them being easily removable lol.

There’s very little that’s better than a weekend wiggle!

Now that I know the little tricks, it’s relatively easy to put Isofix seats in and out of cars with hidden hooks like mine. It’s certainly easier than the seatbelt mounted ones we had in hire cars in Australia and New Zealand earlier this year!

The seat is pretty secure with just the belt in fairness but the weekend wiggle will occur anyway lol
