Does anyone know what is wrong??? I thought the battery had lost charge so I recharged it and then tried once more but my S Class 430 will not even turn over but it brings on the radiator fan which revs right up high - anyone know what is wrong????

The starter motor sounds as if it is jammed or not working.

Are you still covered by Mobilo, if so send for a mechanic.

Sad but no Mobilo cover, there is no indication that the starter even tried for it to be jammed but it makes me wonder why the fan runs. it has not been started for almost a week but I do look after my cars but it looks as if I might have to have it transported to the Worcester main dealers.

The car is in Neutral or park and the brake lights work?

The cars in park and the parking brake is on and I tried it also in neutral but with no difference. All the electrics work so I checked the radiator to see if there was a sensor that might have water on it but I could not find anything ... but why would the fan run as if the engine is hot???

If the fan runs it means there is a control unit problem. Get it recoverd to somone with a Star.

It's possible one cell in the battery has gone high-resistance. That means it'll deliver enough current to run a fan or lights but will die horribly when the starter is used

Try starting the car with the headlights on main beam. If the lights go out or go very dim it might be the battery. If the lights don't change it might be the starter motor solenoid

Failing that it's Star machine & control box time - call in the experts!
