It was a cold and frosty morning...

the weather is getting foul. the last couple of days the M2 and blue bell hill have had loads of accidents and the Dartford crosing seems forever slowed up. I nearly got collected by someone else on a roundabout this morning. Lets all take it easy out there this winter!

Spike, kow exactly how u feel.. got annoyed with the tube last month and went and bought a 125cc Bike... My commutes only 20 mins, but its sooooo cold...

I once had to go walkies in Moscow in daytime temperature of -26c . The only exposed part was my nose and I could feel it freezing up every time I breathed in. It was for a business meeting and the office was not exactly next to the metro station (500m). You have my sympathies.

That brings back some memories!......years ago now I drove from London to Kathmandu in an old Land Rover and we got stuck in Eastern Turkey due to the weather.....-36 and not surprisingly the old girl wouldn't start the next morning. Turned out that the oil in the sump had frozen....had to take the sump off, which I then turned it upside down and oil came out in a sumped shaped jelly......then put the jelly in a bucket and warmed it up on a primus stove until it was nice warm oil again. Put the sump back on, filled her up with the now liquid oil and off we went. Luckily the almost neat anti-freeze held up!

The snow was so deep that in parts of the coutryside the snow was deeper than the telegraph poles and all you could see was wires coming out of the snow leading to the next pole that may only have had the top 3ft sticking out of the snow.

Crazy Crazy journey, but lots of fun and lots of memories.

Got married two years ago in the IceHotel - inside the artic circle. Have fond memories of being in a church made completely of ice, wearing snow boots under a morning suit (with thermals underneath) and my wife turning up in a full wedding dress with a fur cape - looked stunning. Temperature wise, -10C in the church, and one night outside our heated wooden hunt the temperature fell to -40C. Have a picture of the temperature gauge.

Had minor frostbite on my nose after a snowmobile run to see the northern lights (40mph+ in temps of -25C with an exposed nose) and I still felt the cold. One day I vividly remember wearing 7 layers of clothing (including a full snow suit, then ski suit, and alternative layers of thermal clothing !). V funny but what an amazing experience. Completely unforgettable and highly recommended - so much so that we plan to go back at some point for our wedding anniversary (not sure which one).
