I've done it - I've ordered a Brabus chip

Yes I ordered the ML280 rather than the ML320 to 'jump' the waiting list

and yes I have been 110% pleased with the ML280

But I have done it - I have ordered the Brabus upgrade chip which raises

BHP from 190bhp to 242bhp, and
torque from 440Nm at 1,400-2,800 to 510Nm at 1,600-2,800rpm

which compares well to the ML320cdi 224bhp/510nm

It is going in for its first service next week - an A at 15,000 miles - and they are installing the chip at the same time.

All the work is guaranteed and the original MB warranty is unaffected

I will post results when I have the car back (oh and I have told my insurance company - premium for the full yr goes from £520 to £640)

Great. Keep us posted on how it drives.

The cost of the chip is nothing to split hairs about considering what I expect the cost difference between a ML280 and a ML320 is, the only area I think you MAY loose out paying fractioanlly more PA than the ML320 is perhaps insurance, but then you will have the quicker car and you got it when you wanted it.

Double-check the position regarding the manufacturers warranty if you do high-ish miles. I was chatting to the principal and service manager at my local dealer on Friday night, and they said the Brabus chips supplied by the dealer limit the manufacturer warranty to 60,000 miles rather than the unlimited mileage for a standard car. They said what you can/can't claim for is unaffected though.

The principal had an E320 CDi with the Brabus chip before the ML320 CDi he's just taken delivery of. He said it was awesomely fast, and reckoned unless you were out on the open road, it could show the AMGs a thing or two in quick squirts, because the massive torque comes in at such low revs.

Shame the dealer only offers them on the latest generation diesels. Brabus offer them for the rest of the range, but of course the manufacturers warranty is affected.

I recon that if the results are anything like my re-mapped E280 you will have the sweetest ML in the range!;)

I'll check this - thanks
