All and any advice wanted please.
Have had problem with jerky gear change between 2nd and 3rd gear. Problem does not occur when shifting between 2nd and 3rd from a standing start. The problem occurs when I turn a corner and attempt to accelerate out of the corner, the car jerks as I press the accelerator. However if I press the accelerator very gently then the jerky gear change does not occur. Problem also happens at roundabouts in much the same way as when turning corners.
On tuesday took it to an auto transmission specialist. Technician took for a test drive and advised that he had encountered this problem before. Suspected it was a small spring that controls the valve pump or something similar. Not an expensive repair - couple of hundred, which seemed fine. Advised me to book in for thursday for diagnostic just to confirm. Am now advised that the problem is definately the one way clutch which will cost a cool 1800+VAT. I have searched on internet and found a Merc Auto Trans Manual which suggests that the one way clutch is only in use in 1st gear where I do not seem to have any fault occuring!?!?
Am I being taken for a fool because I have a three pointed star on the front of my car?
