Johnnie Walker

I think it was Johnny Walker that used to have a show in the afternoon where he would read out a spiel on someones trials and tribulations on life.
One day it was about a woman whose partner had left her to cope with a child and the emotional fallout.
The record at the end of it?
Where's your papa gone? (Where's your papa gone?)
Far, far away
Far, far away-ay-ay-ay-ay

Chirpy chirpy cheep cheep by Middle of the road.
Iirc he realised and apologised after the track.

Hard nosed bugger, me, thought it was hilarious.

RIP JW

Agree with the above comments; most 'modern' DJs simply don't compare. Always enjoyed listening to his shows / style (hadn't heard the Chirpy story before, would have found it funny as well). RIP.

I preferred his whisky to his d'jing......

Johnnies theme tune on Radio Caroline was Duane Eddy, “Because they’re young”. I don’t remember Caroline by the Fortunes , but that’s not surprising as I can’t remember what I had for lunch yesterday 😢.
