Just bought an SL350 R230

Hi all
As a result of a late-onset midlife crisis, I have just bought a tidy 54-plate SL350 with 57k miles on the clock, picking it up next week.
Really excited about the prospect of some exhilarating motoring but absolutely petrified that it will become a money pit with a leaking boot and other known maladies. However, with the help of some new friends I hope to meet on this forum, I will overcome these fears and get the best out of the SL.

Welcome ! I have to confess I have just bought a 350SL on a 07 plate and can just say I haven't stopped grinning every time I take it for a run ! I have just spent 2 hours washing and cleaning everything to my standards and its looking good, but will be better midweek....God! thank you for making me a Mercedes Benz fan ! ;-) Enjoy yours

HAs it got abc suspension? think some 350's have coil spring set up. Annual suspension fluid change should keep the system in good heslth i've read.

No, its a basic roadster without ABC which I was keen to avoid given some of the issues and costs that have been highlighted online etc ! Just luvvin the ride !

Welcome it a great car butt does have a few problems so keep a reserve fund as a couple of issue could cause you a large bill of £2k But that a side it is a great looking car that will be a joy to run.

Thanks. Just had me first drive hood up hood down on the way back from Washington, Tyne and Wear to Harrogate, Yorks achieving an MPG at best of 29.8..I thought that was impossible with this motor....so am well chuffed ! Such an impeccable drive ...i've become a grandad driver...just love driving it slow ! but then love more the sound from the rear when u pump it up ....Oh my god ...its a fantastic sound ! though I am thinking of trying to improve it ....now I've owned the car for 2weeks ! ;-)

Welcome ! Don't worry about the bills just enjoy the car ...thats what u bought it for ! Any excuse to get it out of the garage ...today a good example...cold sunshine roof down...pushin the throttle ! Whats not to like ! Cannot understand why anyone with a convertible doesn't have the top off on a day like this, but u see lots of em ...get em off I have had my 350SL 07 since July and am luvvin it ! yes it costs ...but if ya look after them ...theres a guaranteed return ...the grin factor in bucket fulls !
