500 SL.
Cant believe it. I have had soft tops for approx 25 years and never had this happen. If I ever lower one in the cold, then I have always religiously made sure the interior is red hot so the windows are nice are bendy.
The Roof has been down for months while the car is stored but I had to move it outside for a few hours so had to raise it. Its not even that cold. Two of the back windows now have nice big holes in them. Gutted.

The Hood is Mint. Are windows available? Surely they are. I have replaced a few Stag ones over the years and did our old MX5 as well.

Anyone offer any advice?

Most people get a specialist to replace the windows ... IIRC the total cost is typically around £300. Is your car a 129 or a 107? With a power hood the tension etc. is fairly critical for it to operate properly.

Where in the country are you?

I use Soft Tops in Coventry, not the cheapest but it will be as good as new.

Its a 129 and I'm in Liverpool.

Left the Hard top on for now. I would have put it on if I wasn't on my own at the time.

I may just buy the Pexiglass and set to it manually. Stag took more or less a full day. Cant see this being any different. I'll wait until the weather is warmer though.

Erm its quite a difficult job to do properly... Hood has to come off, tensions are important... It will look naff if not done right... Dont take this the wrong way but a stag soft top is not anywhere near as well engineered as a Mercedes R129 roof.

I had mine done (all at the rear) for £300. The rear section was removed and taken away to be re-windowed.

Came back two days later and it was fitted. All tensioned correctly.

Wakaday. A.S Pickering in Bradford , West Yorks ( They have a site on the net) were excellent with my old 500SL 1991 replacing the rear soft top screen and the two side windows. Top quality and worth every penny. It's 2 or 3 years ago now but they go from strength to strength. They did it in a day. Don't know where you are obviously but they charged me £250 inc VAT. They are on 01274 724000. They give advice over the phone aswell. Perhaps they can put you in touch with someone closer to you.
By the way if anyone has any problems sourcing a roof control unit ( under the back seats in the R129) or their window control unit ( as they are all connected really) instead of paying £1000 to MB why not try having your control unit repaired with a lifetime guarantee at BBA Remanufacturing , Rochester , Kent. Tel 01634 687220. I sent mine off registered post to them. They returned it fixed and worked absolutely fine on my more recent R129 SL320. The probelm had started with my nearside window not coming down. BBA charged something like £270 inc VAT.
Good luck. Medders
