Hello

I am new here & i would like to thank you all for your great efforts in this forum.

this question always keep popping up in my mind. i am thinking of replacing my current cis with a better one or just stay on it :)

which is better (power wise & economical wise)

a KE-jetronics CIS or a K-jetronics CIS ??

and thanks for you help

Welcome to the forum. KE jetronic is slighty better on fuel but the difference is not noticeable, I'd stick with what you have.

Is it a 4 cyl, or a 2.6?

Quite a bit more electronics on the KE = more things to go wrong! Main air/fuel metering unit is exactly the same. Its the warm up, fast idle and fine mixture control/lambda sensor bits that are different. You don't get a marked increase in efficiency till you move to the electronically controlled individual injection and integrated [distributor-less] ignition systems of the later models = even more things to go wrong! :p Welcome to the forum.

Many thanks for your quick responce, the engine is 230 8v

ok.. so it seems that i wont feel the difference ?

Mr grober ! you said individual injection,,, is it applicable ??
because i saw many systems on the internet but i know that i will have a mapping problem ! right ?

Its a major operation to change the injection system from standard. Aftermarket systems can be bought but as you said they need to be set up [ mapped ]on an engine dynamometer and are frequently designed for competition use to extract more power from an engine rather than help idling economy and general smooth throttle response over a wide range of engine speeds. Carat 3.6 amg's advice is good and he tunes these engines! The Bosch K/KE jetronic are really quite efficient and very reliable if looked after and clean fuel is used.
