Hi all,

I came out of work on Saturday and the remote key would not unlock the car so used the key. The car starts and runs fine but I am unable to lock the car...

At the same time all I get is white noise from the radio except on very close BBC stations but it is not listenable to..

Are these connected or is it just one of those things.:wallbash:

Oh its on the C200 Diesel 2005 plate.

Any help would be welcomed.

Many thanks

Rup

Hold the remote 2 mm from the driver’s door sensor and see if the Infra Red locking will work.
The remote works off IR (Infra Red) and RF (Radio Frequency)
See… Welcome to the C-Class!
The rear window antenna receives the RF from the remote and the car radio signal, this may have packed up, your alarm may also be faulty too, test it here… http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/electronics/169666-w202-how-test-car-alarm.html

You won’t be able to test the alarm until you succeed in locking the car with the remote fob, all that the metal key does is lock the door, it doesn’t operate the central locking or arm the alarm, its just for emergency locking of drivers door and boot.

Check any fuses related to alarm/central locking.

Does the central locking switch work from the dash when the ignition is on?

Solved.

Yah hoo

As I was posting my last reply I wondered if there was another fuse box and I found one in the boot. and yes a 7.5 amp little fuse was popped. Replaced it and all working.

Thanks members for the advice.:bannana::thumb::D:D:D

It's the alarm siren that pops that fuse usually. So if it happens again replace the siren

definitely siren... needs to be changed... fuses dont pop for no reason!
