Hi all,
Is there a battery in the ignition key ?
My car is becoming tempremental when remote locking, when I get out & push the remote it often will not lock (7 out of 10 times).
If I open the door, insert the key in the ignition & switch to 1st position then remove & try to lock again all is OK.
Car remotely unlocks every time no prob.
Any ideas.

New car battery fitted & drivers door control module fitted
I had a really big worry about electrical meltdown but all is OK now, see thread elsewhere.
The key was playing up a bit ages ago but I thought it was connected to the door problem.
Cheers,
Goody.

Yes - the keys have batteries which are replaceable. If you slide the blade key out of your fob, you can use the end of it to prise open the battery compartment from the end of the key. All in the Vehicle Manual, if you have it. (2x CR2025 batteries)

If you need further help, let us know. Strange that it unlocks but doesn't lock though ?

S.

Thanks Sym,
Can I pick your brains for a bit more detail ?
Does the key split down it's side/centre joint, or does the end that the steel fits in pop off to reveal the batteries.
I would rather ask before breaking the remote.
The manual was not with the car when I bought it.
Unless my local Merc dealer can suprise me with a realistic price (to be fair the other parts bought from them have not been to expensive) I think ebay may be summoned.
cheers,
Goody.

Hi Sym,
No panic, sussed it.
The batteries are bigger than I thought they would be, I was expecting a pair of watch type cells.
Many thanks,
Goody.
