Hey Guys,

I noticed that I can open and close the electric windows on the car by pointing my keyfob at the door handle, and pressing the appropriate lock / unlock button, marvellous.

However, this only works on the passenger door. Whilst I see a little square receiver on the door handle on the driver's side, this doesnt function. Is this by design or do I have a fault? Logically thinking, I'm sure that I should be able to open and close the electric windows with the key on the drivers door, too?

All help apprecated :)

I don't know about the C class, but definitely on my S class it works at both sides.

AFAIK it is the drivers door only

Hmm -

I've dug out the manual and it does state that it should operate on both doors. Only my passenger door works...

should this work on a W203 too? 2005 '55 plated

it works on all electric windows and the sunroof included( if you have one ) if it is left open. If yours works on only the passenger window then you have a problem.

Receiver in the door handle could be on the blink.

It should be both sides of the car not just the passenger

I have a 98 c240, mine operates all windows both sides of the car and the sunroof.

On my old C240 (W202) there was a sensor in both driver and passenger doors, therefore it worked from both sides :bannana: .

On the C320 (W203 - pre-facelift) the sensor is on the drivers door only, therefore it obviously only works from the drivers side  .

Weird.....sounds like another MB cost-cutting exercise  .

My sensors are in the mirror. none on the doors but all windows work.

There seems to be a bit of misunderstanding here  .

Seymansey - are you saying that that only the passenger window closes via the fob, or that you can only activate the entire system from the passenger side door sensor? I read it as the latter, i.e. all windows (+ sunroof, if fitted) close via the fob, but from only one side of the car.

If I'm wrong, and it is only the passenger window that closes (activated okay via the fob from either side of the car), then that's an entirely different problem

I resolved this today, almost done with my list of 'things to get done' on the car:)

Nice and simple - removed the driver side barrell only to find the IR receiver disconnected - the lock must have been tampered with in earlier days and a sloppy technicican hadn't bothered to connect the plug up (and bent a pin in the process).

Sorted these, and i can now open and close my windows using the IR key on both doors :)

Well done you!!!!

Have a narna :bannana: :bannana:

I just bought a C180k W203 04 model. What is this that I'm reading? I can open and close the windows using the key fob?? What button would do that - I only have 3 on the fob - lock, unlock, and boot release.

Man these mercs are fab!!

Hi Merc180K,

Mine does this as well (I think it's like on my RR and it's called Lazy windows..)

If you unlock the car and continue to hld the key pointed at the drivers door lock the windows go down. Alternatively - it's called lazy locking on the RR - Lock the car and keep the button pressed pointed at he drivers door and all the windows close.

Good Eh..!!

That's fab. Have a Laguna as well for the next couple of months and I just don't want to get in it again! It doesn't have half the stuff.

...lock button to close windows, unlock button to open windows - when pointed (quite close to drivers door handle)
