Kick down working intermittently

Every now and then the kick down does not work, take for example tonight I was climbing a bank and at 30 MPH it would not kick down even with taken my foot all the way off the accelerator then reapplying it to the click of the button, still no kick down, later on in the night I tried again on another bank and it kicked down and accelarated fine, do the buttons often fail ?, is there a way to test them ?, can they be shorted out with a link of wire to test while moving? I have suspected for a while something was not quite right, is it more likely to be the MAS or the kick down switch, any help or similar experiences please.

Could also be a faulty pedal value sensor, that's the resistor that your throttle pedal is linked to. As you play a tune on the gas pedal, the pedal value sensor translates your movement into an electrical input signal for the ECU which then does the necessary with the engine.

I still currently have an intermittant problem with mine, that I really should get sorted but can't be ar$ed, as I can avoid the situation arising 95% of the time.
