Knocking Noise When Accelerating

Hi All
Just bought a w203 220cdi (55 plate) and have noticed a knocking noise when I press hard on the accelerator.

Any ideas what this could be? I love the car but am rather concerned about this knocking...

Any help or advice greatly appreciated...

Could be your engine mount or diff!

Recently my friend who has an E55 and he had the same problem, he took it to MB and they said the passanger side that holds the engine is broke and the knocking noise is the engine hiting the bonnet on one side.

Best bet is to take it to MB and get them to have a look, as people will start guessing!

On my 2005 C had the same problem. No problem up to about 50-60%, but fully depressed acelerator got a knock which at the time seemed to be coming from rear.

Fixed replacing drivers side (your passenger side) mount. Wasn't exactly broken, but on it's way out.

IIRC got it replaced (parts & labor) for a £105.

The parking brake cable rubs on the prop whe a little clip breaks. I have had tnis a few times.

Quick update - it is indeed the parking brake cable - thanks for all your replies.

What a relief - I had only had the car 2 days lol - now I can go and enjoy it.

I guess you always assume the worst!

My first Merc and I love it already...fantastic car!
