Hi Guy's and Guyesses,

Local area network (L A N) address how do you change them.

I have a program that only recognises a LAN so many times (4 or 5)then all the use of the licence expires,But if you can change the LAN then you can use the program again untill the next lot expires.

So could anyone tell me how do you change a LAN or add another so that i could use that one as it's target.

Any Ideas please

how about paying for the software? :D

Andy

I have done :) but it only allows you to load it in so many times and then it blocks you.

Sorry I didn't say, that i used the wrong numbers as the LAN

No copies here

When you say LAN address, is it an IP address (does it have dots) or a MAC address (does it have colons) ?

start, run, type CMD, press enter.

type in the following -

ipconfig /release, press enter

ipconfig /renew, press enter

if you need a new address for your router (internet modem etc) remove the pwer for about 20sec's and then restart the device......

The LAN address i should have used was the one with dashes, and i kept on using my IP address with dots. it was only after reading the installation instructions (properly as i thought it was a plug and play program)that i realized that i had been using the wrong addess.

so when i used the correct address on the last atempt it refused accses saying that i had used up my licence.

So by creating a new target i thought it would allow me to start fresh again.

That is why i have asked the question.

The MAC address is burnt into the hardware mate (on your network card) and you cant change it. (yes I know thats not strictly true, but....) Thats why vendors use it for licenses.

As you have a valid license, they should give you support on sorting the problem - i.e. you shouldnt be shafted and denied use of your paid-for software just because you made a typo.

Good luck!

this is very true - (hence the bit in brackets!)

as you say, its not really changing the address on the hardware, but the driver is happy to use whatever address you tell it rather than the real one!

i dont think our friend is on linux unfortunately, and so far i havent got a plug for linux on this thread. but now its here, so well done :D

Thanks to one and all for the advice. :)
Everything is sorted now thanks.

I got in touch with the seller of the program, and explained what i had done, and he changed it for another program.Like for like.:)

Thank you
