Late servicing

My 2004 W211 E270 Mercedes has around 350 miles before it is due a service and it will probably go over by about 500 miles before I am able to get it serviced. I intend on getting it serviced by an independent but I have been told that if I go over the service interval then I can only get the service reminder reset at a main dealer? Does anyone know if there is any truth to this? Thanks in advance.

As I thought, but thought I would check with you chaps. Thank you

Might not be untrue.
Kwik fit couldn't reset my 5 series when I went over but my local garage could.

Surely a local independent with STAR could do it in the same way as a main dealer could?

See you never know what might come of a post.
Remember to ask for club discount if you call or e mail!!!!

I am pretty sure that my 2006 W203 service indicator can be reset from the instrument cluster, whatever the mileage, though I must admit I haven't actually tried it.

Yes it can :thumb:

Agreed with WG M-B - a reset is easily achieved. You may either try it yourself - refer to the user manual or an inde should be able to help you. I took the easy option and got Olly of PCS (the chap who collects compliments by the bucketful from forum members) to do this when he did a 'B' service for me.
